Astelin Nasal Spray Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis Drug Approved by FDA

CRANBURY, N.J.-- Nov. 4, 1996 -- The Food and Drug Administration today announced approval of Astelin(R) (azelastine HCL) nasal spray, from Wallace Laboratories, for a complex of systems associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis.

Astelin(R) enters the $1.5 billion prescription seasonal allergic rhinitis market and is the first prescription antihistamine spray for seasonal allergic rhinitis in the United States. It offers a valuable treatment option for the estimated 20-40 million Americans who suffer from seasonal allergic rhinitis, the fifth most common chronic illness that causes millions of lost work days and significant discomfort for the sufferer.

Wallace Laboratories is a division of Carter-Wallace, Inc. (NYSE:CAR).
