The goals of (SAARS) are four-fold: to monitor the evolution of antimicrobial resistance among clinical bacterial isolates in southern Arizona and northern Mexico, detect the emergence of novel and potentially threatening new strains of resistant bacteria, provide support for interventions and to serve as an educational resource for those interested in the subject.
