Amevive (Alefacept), Treatment for Psoriasis, Approved In Australia ZUG, SWITZERLAND -- June 17, 2004 -- Biogen Idec (Nasdaq: BIIB) today announced that the Therapeutic Goods Administration has approved Amevive® (alefacept) for sale in Australia. Amevive will be marketed for treatment of adult patients with moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis who are candidates for phototherapy or systemic therapy. Amevive, approved in the United States last year, was the first biologic therapy approved for the treatment of moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis in adults.
