![]() MADISON, N.J., April 21, 1997 -- American Home Products Corporation today announced that William A. Hawkins will join the Company as Vice President, Medical Device and Specialty Pharmaceutical Divisions, effective April 28, 1997. Mr. Hawkins will report to Fred Hassan, Executive Vice President, American Home Products Corporation. Reporting to Mr. Hawkins will be David Low, President, Sherwood-Davis & Geck; Robert H. Blankemeyer, President, Storz; David G. Strunce, President, Specialty Pharmaceuticals; and Steven C. Tallman, President, Quinton Instrument Company. Mr. Hawkins has broad and in-depth experience in the medical device industry, most recently as President of Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon Endo-Surgery. Additionally, he was with Guidant Corporation where he was President, Devices for Vascular Intervention. Mr. Hawkins was also President and CEO of Ivac Corporation, which was a subsidiary of Eli Lilly and Company. His experience also includes a non-U.S. based assignment as General Manager of Lilly's Medical Device businesses in the U.K. Mr. Hawkins holds an undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Virginia's Darden School of Business.
