Mometasone Furoate Dry Powder Inhaler Approved in Japan for Bronchial Asthma

NEW YORK -- July 9, 2009 -- Mometasone furoate dry powder inhaler (Asmanex) has been approved in Japan for the treatment of bronchial asthma in adult patients.

Clinical studies have shown improvement in lung function, decreased use of rescue medication, and improvement in daytime symptoms with the use of mometasone furoate in patients aged 12 years and older.

The most common side effects with mometasone furoate in patients aged 12 years and older include headache, allergic rhinitis, sore throat, and upper respiratory infection.
