Norditropin Cartridges, Premixed Growth Hormone, Available In The US PRINCETON, NJ -- October 3, 2000 -- Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Inc., announced that Norditropin® cartridge, the first and only premixed growth hormone for a pen is now available in the US. The liquid growth hormone is available in cartridges for use in the NordiPen®, its companion pen delivery system. Martin Soeters, president, Novo Nordisk Pharmaceuticals, Inc., said, "Norditropin cartridge in conjunction with NordiPen is a technological advance over freeze-dried products currently available in the US. Liquid Norditropin in a ready-to-use cartridge is placed in an injection pen, providing an easier, quicker and more convenient method of injecting growth hormone for thousands of patients." He added, "Compliance is a common problem in the long-term treatment of growth deficiency in children. The ease and convenience of Norditropin cartridges offers health care professionals a new option that may increase compliance in these patients. Novo Nordisk is pleased to bring its history of worldwide leadership in endocrinology to the US with the introduction of this innovative product." Norditropin cartridges are indicated for treatment of growth failure due to growth hormone deficiency in children. The cartridges contain liquid Norditropin, making reconstitution unnecessary. The NordiPen companion pen delivery system is designed for simple, easy and accurate dosing and uses the NovoFine® 30 needle, one of the thinnest and finest needles available. The Norditropin cartridge has a 15 mg/1.5mL capacity, which is suitable for use by all patients diagnosed with growth hormone insufficiency.
